RE: cog tests
"They tested my progress frequently, and I fiercely attempted to WIN those tests, both to impress myself and to get an early discharge. I don’t remember this, but soon after coming out of my coma I was given a cognitive test in the ICU where they asked me to count down from 10. Then I had to close my eyes and touch my nose. Then they asked me to hold up two fingers and I hoisted up a double bird for everyone to see. My folks were very proud of me for that"
@matrix A bit rich of Slack to be accusing someone else of over-centralisation after they did a bait-and-switch on IRC and XMPP protocol access to Slack.
"You will never understand every detail of the implementation of every level on that stack; but you can understand all of them to some level of abstraction, and any specific layer to essentially any depth necessary for any purpose.

the short explanation is that you force it to fail to boot by cutting power, boot again, and allow it to go into error checking/recovery mode. you have to let it do the whole error check thing but once it's done, it'll say "no errors found". then you click a link to "see a more detailed report".
it opens in notepad. file->open, navigate to system32, right click on the sticky keys executable and rename it, right click on cmd.exe and make a copy, rename the copy to the sticky keys executable's old name, reboot

The crisis in the US which will end with hundreds of thousands of dead people is neither "crazy" nor "insane".
The people in charge are cruel, with criminal intent.
Don't water this down by saying they're mentally unwell or incompetent.
It's all on purpose. Using ableism just hurts actually mentally ill people.

uspol, presidential pardons
There's a narrative I've seen in reporting about Trump's commutation of Roger Stone's sentence that tries to make it sound unprecedented. However, Ford preemptively pardoned Nixon and George H. W. Bush preemptively pardoned Caspar Weinberger and five others for Iran-Contra so this is just business as usual
