Ron Santo yelling, "he dropped the ball! Oh WHY would he DO THAT” is something I will think about forever

I think there's an element of American culture that glamorizes pulling up stakes and moving away for college, or moving away for a job. Away from your childhood support network of family and friends.

And there's a concept of a "nuclear family" where two people "should be" able to care for one or more children on their own which is CRAZY.

"Adulting" is a social construct of how you're supposed to be able to move away from ties you've developed in childhood with no problems.

If you think only fools are vulnerable to phishing, and all you have to do is look for obvious giveaways like poor spelling/grammar, you're even more likely to be phished out of hubris. Many phishing attackers are quite sophisticated. Look at this one. jeffreyladish.com/anatomy-of-a

It's gotten to the point where everyone has to be 24/7 on alert for possible phishing attacks, and that just isn't sustainable. That's one reason I'm an advocate of petname systems.

it's rad as hell imo that companies like samsung and motorola that are launching these foldable smartphones with starting prices in the 1,500 dollar range are just telling customers "yeah, those permanent creases, and bumps and lumps? those are normal, you have to deal with those" and for some reason we're supposed to lust after these fucking pieces of shit?

I generally prefer Chinese cash giving culture over American gift giving culture.

(The exception is when I think of the perfect gift, which is rare.)

It does get absurd sometimes. My son's birthday is a week before my niece's birthday. So they give us cash for our son. Then we take the EXACT SAME cash out, but it in a new envelope, and give it back to them.
